I receive a "Processing" message on login and the page never advances.

If you try to log in on the Safari browser and encounter a message that the page is "Processing" but the page never advances or changes, you may need to modify one of your Safari browser's settings.

Older MacOS versions may have an issue logging into the PBS.org website on Safari. If you encounter this issue, please try one of the following:

Update Your Safari's Autofill Settings

Disable your Safari's autofill setting by following these steps:

  1. Open Safari.
  2. On your menu bar, select Safari > Settings (or Preferences on older Macs) > Autofill
  3. Disable the setting User names and passwords by unchecking the box beside it.
  4. Close the Safari Settings box.
  5. Visit PBS.org and click Sign In to attempt another login.

Try logging in with a social account, such as Google, Facebook, or Apple.

Usually, this error only occurs when you enter your email address and personal password for a login account specific to PBS. However, PBS also allows you to sign in with a personal Google, Facebook, or Apple account. If you have one of these social accounts that uses the same personal email address you use with PBS, you can instead try signing in on the same screen using your Google, Facebook, or Apple account.

The first time you sign in to PBS with Google, Facebook, or Apple, you'll be prompted to link your PBS login email with this social method. Confirm the link to continue with logging into PBS. On future site visits, you can use the same social login method to sign into PBS.

Try logging in with another web browser.

The issue is limited to the Safari browser. The PBS website supports the Chrome and Firefox web browsers. You can try downloading one of these browsers and using it to log into PBS.org instead of Safari.

Update your MacOS

The issue seems limited to older versions of MacOS, especially MacOS 14. You can check your computer for updates in case your computer can update to a more recent version of MacOS.
